Why Wait??

I have clients tell me all the time, “I’m going to have a boudoir session with you – just as soon as I’ve ________.”

That blank has kept a lot of us from doing a good number of things, hasn’t it? Usually, women tell me that they want to wait until they’re at their “goal weight” or until they’ve lost X pounds. But last week, I had a client say to me, “I don’t think I should wait anymore. When I think back to what my body looked like when I was 30, I wanted to lose weight then, too. And now I’m 40 and with the birth of my two children, I’ve gained a few more pounds. I wish I had done something like this back then, if only so I could see what my body looked like at that point. I’d better do it now, before 10 more years go by!”

Boudoir photography isn’t about documenting your perfect body. It’s about letting your inner sex kitten out for a bit – it’s about showing what a beautiful creature you are, just the way you are.  Besides, your body isn’t perfect and it never will be. Did you hear that? You’re perfectly perfect right now.

Fill in the blank for yourself. What are you waiting for??

About kissitchris

Nothing makes me happier than holding my camera and sharing an intimate moment with my subject. I've always felt that my job as a photographer was to not only tell a story with my pictures but to show the emotion of that story. For years I've traveled around, taking pictures of people, places and events and I've finally settled down here in Los Angeles. Living in a city where image defines so much, I was inspired to explore boudoir photography as a way to encourage women of all shapes and sizes to see themselves as beautiful creatures, regardless of their dress size. My photographs encapsulate the secret beauty I find hidden beneath the surface. Thanks for stopping by...

Good post. I’ve never come up with a way myself to encapsulate the statement that the overriding likelihood is that “waiting to get in shape” will only result in being older and no better in shape when you come in.

And you’re right — its not about your physical body. Sexy is an attitude.
